Turkey launches 1,5 GW Solar tender
The Ministry of Energy of Turkey has launched a 1.5 GW solar tender under the national Yeka renewable energy program. The applications for the upcoming auctions for photovoltaic plants are expected to be received on January 12. The capacity will be allocated through 76 mini procurements ranging from 10 to 30 MW across 23 provinces. The government envisages the biggest capacity in Diyarbakır, Van and Malatya – 120 MW each.
The competition will be the fifth round of the country’s Renewable Energy Resources Zone (YEKA) tender scheme, which is supposed to support Turkey’s goal of supplying 65% of its energy needs from domestic renewable energy sources by 2023 and having 15 GW of installed solar PV capacity by 2027. In July, the government launched the fourth call for solar capacity under the YEKA programme, which aims to allocate 1 GW.
