PowerChina and Ukrainian developer WindFarm signed a contract on building a $1 billion 800MW wind park in Ukraine. The project which will be installed in the Mangush and Nikolsky districts of Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine, is to become the largest onshore wind farm in Europe.

The project will be developed without making use of green tariffs from the government. The output of the complex will be sold on a merchant basis.

WindFarm’s Director Yuriy Zhabskyy said the power plant would be installed “in the shortest possible time”, but still he did not give an exact timeframe for the project’s completion.
